We're sorry to hear about your experience with Painter's Putty '53'. The 6 plus dollars I spent on this could not even begin to make up for the time and effort wasted while using this terrible terrible product and the damage it caused with oil ring marks on the wood and primer. I was told I could send the original receipt back to Dap for a full refund. I used it exactly as it was supposed to be used, and I can say AVOID THIS PRODUCT AT ALL COSTS! I don't know if there were some bad batches of this stuff with too much of one ingredient or another, but please, don't take the risk. I contacted Dap, they asked me how I used the product. THIS PRODUCT WAS A DISASTER! It set my home painting projects back by hours, DAYS, not to mention the hours I spent applying the stuff around the house to the trim and windows. I had to go around to all of the areas, including the already primed spots, and scrape this stuff out. It created huge oil rings around all the areas that it was used on. As for the rest of the spots where this was applied, this product did not dry! A week after application it was still as soft as when it went on and was coming off when simply touched. After the paint dried, I could see dark oily bleed through spots all over the trim and window areas where this stuff was used. One room was then primed with two coats of Kilz primer. We began using this throughout the house to fill in nail holes and cracks before painting. It says specifically that it "Resists Oil Bleeding" on the front label. I bought this product at Home Depot based on what I'd read on the label.
